The Publisher’s Publicity Circle is thrilled to announce the return of its summer party. It will be held this August as a joint venture with Jenny Brown Associates at the Edinburgh International Book Festival. This will be the first PPC Summer Party since the early 1990s.
Publishers, authors and media from London and across the UK are invited to celebrate at a party to take place in the Party Pavilion in Charlotte Square from 6pm on Saturday 25 August.*
Roland Gulliver, Associate Director, Edinburgh International Book Festival & former winner of PPC Event Manager of the Year said: “The success of the Edinburgh International Book Festival is due in no small part to our immensely productive relationship with publicity professionals across the UK. Their hard work and enthusiasm inspires us to celebrate so many of their writers, old and new from Scotland and around the world. We are delighted that the PPC will be hosting their summer party in Edinburgh this August and will come to share the results of all our work, discovering the joy of literary Edinburgh in August.”
Jenny Brown, Literary Agent said: “We’re thrilled to be working with the PPC. The timing of our summer party coincides with the visit of editors from round the world here for Publishing Scotland’s Fellowship and we look forward to a truly international gathering of writers, publishers and media”
Veronique Norton, Chair of the Publisher’s Publicity Circle said: “Edinburgh has long been a publishing hub for publicists, media and authors alike during the month of August and so it’s wonderful that they will be hosting the relaunch of the PPC Summer Party. Holding this outside London offers an opportunity to celebrate the breadth of talent from publishing houses and media outlets across the UK and help broaden the PPC’s outlook and reach.”
In addition to the monthly meetings at Foyles in London, the PPC in association with Publishing Scotland will also be hosting a meeting about the BBC for all book publicists at Pacific Quay in Glasgow on Tuesday 4 September where speakers will include Esme Kennedy from Janice Forsyth, Pauline McLean from BBC Arts News and Pauline Law, Head of Multiplatform Production.
The PPC is not only breaking down regional barriers in the UK, last week the first PPC Australia meeting took place in Sydney after some expat publicists from the UK publishing industry wanted an opportunity to meet with colleagues and media like they had back home.
PPC Sydney Chair Louise Cornege, Head of Publicity, Allen & Unwin said:
“The first meeting was a tremendous success offering the media that attended an unrivalled opportunity to have multiple houses in the one room and publicists the time and space to discuss changes in the industry and the media landscape.”
The PPC Sydney will meet on a quarterly basis. We’re going global!
