Events are fundamental to the success of Waterstones and last year our shops hosted over 7000 events and activities, giving customers the opportunity to engage with authors and books in our shops and many external venues across the UK. These included talks and signings with a mix of authors including Sir David Attenborough, Sally Rooney, Rupi Kaur and the Beastie Boys, as well as launch events for major publications such as Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald and Michelle Obama’s Becoming.
The Central Events Team support our shops on all areas of their events programme, from developing and implementing, to operations on the day. The team works closely with Festivals and third party event teams, build and maintain key publisher relationships and work in tandem with all departments across the business to deliver successful events, pop-up shops and festivals.
We are looking for an Events Coordinator to come and join our central team in Head Office, (central London). The ideal candidate will have experience of planning and delivering multiple projects to often tight deadlines, ideally in an events environment. They will need to thrive on working in a team, be organised and have outstanding communication skills. An enthusiasm to think creatively and strategically around delivery of our events is key, as is a passion for bringing our events to the attention of our customers. This is an opportunity to join a vibrant team at a time when book events are essential to the future of the industry.
This is a full time role available for an immediate start. If you are customer focused, efficient, have the ability to multitask and want to come and work with a friendly team, this could be the right role for you.
