What you’ll be doing

You will be creating innovative and dynamic publicity campaigns to grow sales, raise author and book profiles and brand awareness. There will also be opportunity to work collaboratively on campaigns alongside colleagues in the Orion publicity team.

We are looking for someone to work across our diverse list of publishing with focus on our prestigious Gollancz imprint. An interest in, and connections with, the Science Fiction and Fantasy community is preferred, but not essential. Enthusiasm, passion and creativity is absolutely essential.

Who we’re looking for

The ideal candidate will already be working in the publicity department of a book publishing company, be extremely efficient and bring creativity and passion to the role. The ability to multi-task, work calmly under pressure and be a strong team player are also vital as is a good knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and InDesign.

A confident self-starter, you will thrive in a busy environment and will and enjoy developing innovative approaches to building author profiles. You will have experience of delivering outstanding author care and liaising with agents as well as have a real desire to broaden your contacts into new areas.

You will have a demonstrable interest in publishing and an awareness of how PR can affect the success of a book. You will be responsible, enthusiastic, have excellent organisational skills and a willingness jump in and help wherever needed. You will relish the opportunity to travel with authors, managing schedules and attending a range of events, some of which will be out of normal office hours.

We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills, both written and spoken, and who works well as part of a close-knit team. Good social media skills and telephone manner are also vital.
