Headline Publishing Group, part of Hachette UK, the UK’s leading book publisher, is looking for a Publicity Manager to join Headline’s Press Office, reporting to the Communications Director, with full ownership of their authors and campaigns. We need a responsible, enthusiastic, well-organised person who is really committed to the job and will relish the opportunity to travel with authors, attending a range of events, sometimes at weekends.
Ideal candidates will already be working at Press Officer or Senior Press Officer level, with considerable experience in the Press Office. You will have experience of delivering outstanding author care and liaising with agents as well as have a real desire to broaden your contacts into new areas. We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills, both written and spoken, and who works well as part of a close knit team. Good social media skills and telephone manner are also vital.
The list associated with this role is wide and commercial, so there will be responsibility for titles across all genres but most of all crime, so a real enthusiasm for crime fiction and good contacts in that area would be beneficial. You would also work on commercial women’s fiction and on occasional non-fiction titles too including celebrity, lifestyle, and sport. You will have an excellent understanding of all the elements needed to make a title commercially successful and, how publicity can drive sales and raise author profiles.
