Job Title: Publicist / Senior Publicist

Contract: Part time (24 hours per week), 12 months fixed term contract (parental leave cover)
Salary: Circa £35,000 to £38,000 (FTE) per annum depending on experience
Job Summary
Yale University Press London is looking for a publicist/senior publicist to join the marketing department
on a fixed term contract. The role will be responsible for delivering high impact PR campaigns for our
trade and academic list, which covers history, current affairs, music, biography, philosophy & ideas and
popular science.
Purpose of job
To plan and implement high impact, creative publicity campaigns, working closely with authors, editors,
marketing and sales, to maximise the value of coverage and drive sales.

Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and implement multifaceted campaigns that deliver on all available PR opportunities,
covering traditional and non-traditional media, and including print, broadcast, online and events. - Work closely with authors to maximise their positive input into the PR campaign.
- Work with marketing and sales colleagues to communicate plans and capitalise on the value of
coverage when it lands. - Develop and maintain relationships with journalists, event organisers and external partners,
leveraging an excellent level of knowledge of the ever-changing media landscape. - Respond to journalist requests for materials in a timely manner.
- Keep acquisition editors updated through the life of a campaign from planning stages through to
post-publication.
Other Duties and Responsibilities: - Work with marketers in the team to ensure promotion of events via YUPL social media.
- Communicate information about events to the UK and Export sales teams in a timely way to
make sure that bookselling opportunities are assessed and responded to. - Communicate and work collaboratively where needed with relevant colleagues in the Yale US
office. - Embrace and contribute to our team-oriented approach, sharing information and collaborating
with publicity colleagues to pool tips, ideas and advice. - Contribute to keeping journalist details and review requests up to date on Cision.
- Keep comprehensive campaign records so that results can be assessed to inform the publishing
process. - Make any necessary arrangements for author travel and accommodation, keeping within agreed
budget parameters. - Attend and contribute to marketing meetings, planning documents and other departmental
administration. - Maintain high standards of presentation and accuracy.
- Support colleagues at launch parties and events as required.
- Perform other duties from time to time as required by your line manager.
Person Specification – Key knowledge & skills - An in-depth knowledge of the UK press and book events landscape.
- Superb copywriting and pitching skills.
- Strong project management skills.
- 3+ years’ non-fiction publicity experience or equivalent.
- Excellent interpersonal and team working skills.
- High level of computer literacy and flexibility to adapt to new systems.
