The Opportunity | FMcM, the books PR agency, is looking for an ambitious, creative, and
versatile Communications Manager to work with the team on stand-out publicity and
marketing campaigns for books and projects, taking a leading role in the delivery. The
successful candidate will be closely involved with campaigns for some of the most prominent
authors, publishers and initiatives in the industry, as well as sharing a responsibility for
representing FMcM as a business.

Responsibilities:
Campaign implementation
Create and implement outstanding communications campaigns across your client list,
working both independently and as part of a team
Create and edit impactful communications – from press releases to social media
content – across your client portfolio
Demonstrate effective client management, including meeting preparation, regular
reporting, and campaign evaluation
Organise and attend book launches and other events. Provide support on the smooth
running of larger events, such as prize ceremonies and literary festivals, including
managing guest lists, hosting press and talent, organising live interviews on-site, and
syndicating assets and press materials
Work directly with clients and authors, arrange schedules, provide briefings and
escort them to events and media commitments, always upholding a high standard of
author care
Continue to develop and maintain a strong network of media contacts and be
proactive about seeking new relationships to support the agency’s work across a
range of clients
Communicate any challenges or concerns in a timely manner, seeking guidance from
project and line managers to effectively pre-empt or manage obstacles
Corporate Responsibilities
Identify and build relationships with potential new clients from your own sphere of
influence, and contribute to new business proposal documents and presentations
Support junior staff to deliver stand-out campaigns
Adhere to FMcM internal protocol, contributing to the smooth running of the business
Promote FMcM, acting as a representative and advocate of the company, and
contribute to the company’s digital presence with creative content across social
media and the website
Required:
3-5 years’ experience in a related arts or communications role
Strong awareness of the current media landscape and UK literary scene
Excellent network of media contacts
Demonstrable experience of delivering creative book campaigns
Ability to prioritise and juggle competing demands with good time management skills
Proven copywriting skills, from press releases to social media content
Excellent Microsoft Office skills Word, PowerPoint and Excel and experience using
InDesign and Photoshop
Strong social media acumen with a working knowledge of the wider digital marketing
landscape within book publishing or the wider arts scene
Keep up to date with current issues and public opinion in the media to inform
communications campaigns
Professional, proactive, and organised
Team player with a positive attitude
Excellent communication skills
Curiosity in a range of genres and ability to work on a wide variety of projects
