EDPR is one of the UK’s leading PR agencies specialising in books and culture. A multi-award-winning company, our children’s authors include global bestsellers Angie Thomas, Elle McNicoll and Jason Reynolds, with clients ranging from the Carnegie Awards, BBC Young Writers’ and National Short Story Awards, the Theakston’s Old Peculier Crime Writing Festival, and a range of publishers across both adult and children’s sectors including Penguin Random House, Hachette, Pan Macmillan, Simon & Schuster, Knights Of, Zephyr and Canongate.
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced children’s publicist to join our award-winning team, and to grow their own part of the business. This role would suit a publicist looking to take their next step into a senior campaign role, or an experienced campaigns manager with an entrepreneurial eye, who wants to carve out their own niche in the dynamic world of children’s publishing.
What we are looking for:
EDPR is renowned for award-winning, results-driven campaigns and commitment to client and author care, so we are looking for an exceptional communicator who has existing strong connections within children’s publishing and across the media.
This is an exciting opportunity to take the lead on a section of the business and grow it, so this would suit someone with an entrepreneurial and creative mindset, who can think outside the box with their campaigns. The right candidate will thrive on being an expert in this area, and will be a go-to for media, clients and internal colleagues.
Most importantly, you must have a passion for books, news and culture and bring that enthusiasm with you. While this role will be working primarily on children’s titles, as part of an agency, there is always diversity and range, and there will be opportunities to work on other sections of the business that interest you, including events, awards, non-fiction, brand authors and fiction titles.
Essential skills
- At least three years’ experience in publishing (or adjacent creative industry), ideally in children’s PR.
- Excellent contacts across media, children’s publishing and trade.

- The ability to network effectively and build strong relationships with clients, media and the wider publishing industry; ideally already an expert, or on the way to being an industry leader in creative children’s book campaigns.
- Creative thinking skills and an ability to think beyond the campaign to drive sales for books, and a genuine interest in staying on top of the latest trends and the constantly changing landscape of children’s books PR.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload, multi-task and meet deadlines.
The role offers:
- Salary: a competitive salary of £36-42K + pension, depending on skills and experience.
- Flexible working: we are a hybrid workplace (3-days per week in our SE London office) and full or part-time working will be considered.
