We’re looking for a creative PR professional to help share the ideas of leading authors and experts with the world.

We’re recruiting for a Campaigns Manager/Director, but we’d love to hear from talented publicists at different stages of their careers who would like to join our ambitious and growing book PR agency.

The Book Publicist is an award-winning PR agency with a fantastic team of 15, specialising in publicity for non-fiction authors, business leaders and experts.

We’re experiencing an exciting period of growth, with new international partnerships, brilliant clients and some fantastic opportunities ahead. A little about us

We manage PR for a wide range of non-fiction books, including business, leadership, HR, self-development, autobiographies, careers, parenting, education and health.

Our clients include leading publishers like FT publishing, Forefront, Wiley, Bloomsbury and Quadrille as well as business schools including IMD. We also work directly with authors, entrepreneurs and business leaders on book campaigns, ongoing profiling and thought leadership PR.

We’re proud to be the official UK PR partner for Forbes Books UK and Entrepreneur Books UK, working with some of the world’s leading business authors and experts.

Our campaigns reach audiences across the UK, US, Europe and the Middle East, securing coverage in leading national, international, business and specialist media.

We’re also proud to be the official PR partner of the Business Book Awards, a partnership now in its 10th year.

The role

We’re looking for someone who loves books, ideas and the media, and who enjoys finding creative ways to turn expertise into compelling stories.

You’ll have the opportunity to work with fascinating authors and experts, developing and delivering campaigns that build their profile and authority, promote their books and establish them as leading voices in their fields.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Planning and executing your own publicity campaigns.

• Writing clear, concise and engaging press releases and media pitches.

• Brainstorming and researching creative ideas for campaigns.

• Writing thought leadership articles, expert commentary and ‘top tips’ features for the media.

• Building and maintaining strong relationships with journalists, producers and editors.

• Identifying opportunities in the news agenda and developing reactive media angles.

• Managing author expectations and maintaining our high level of author care.

• Working collaboratively with our wider team to deliver brilliant results for our clients.

• Confident in following and developing processes that support collaborative working, improve efficiency and help the business grow.

Skills, knowledge and experience

Ideally, you’ll have at least three years’ experience in PR within non-fiction publishing. However, we’d also welcome applications from journalists or PR professionals with experience in thought leadership, expert profiling or business PR.

We’re looking for someone who:

• Has excellent communication and copywriting skills.

• Has great relationships with journalists and understands what makes a good media story.

• Can write persuasive press releases, pitches and thought leadership articles.

• Is creative, proactive and full of ideas.

• Has the determination and resilience to keep pursuing opportunities until results are achieved.

• Has excellent attention to detail.

• Thrives in a fast-paced environment and can balance multiple clients and campaigns.

• Has an interest in current affairs and a good understanding of the topical news agenda.

• Enjoys working as part of a supportive, collaborative team.

• Is passionate about helping authors and experts share their ideas with the world.

Salary and benefits

Salary circa £35,000 – £45,000 + quarterly bonus, depending on experience.

We offer:

• Flexible working and working from home.

• 25 days annual leave + bank holidays (including your birthday, time off between Christmas and New Year)rising to 28 days after 3 years and 30 days after 5 years.
